Here's another idea for your "bare wall". We snapped this picture from a customer's home a few weeks ago. She ordered the Frame Rod and custom ordered a wood sign from us. She came up with the idea for this wall on her staircase. It turned out AWESOME!

I am ready for the challenge. This is what my family room wall looks like now. Not bad. But I'm ready to shake things up. I'm going to start taking it apart this week. I actually want to re-do my curtains in my family room/kitchen area too. SO, I'm going to be looking for ideas. I'll keep you posted as things roll along- starting with my "Bare wall" and then, as I find different ideas or things that I like- I'll post them here. I really love creating new things and really enjoy decorating my house. Its just so FUN! I'm just nutty like that.

Val and I are both going to blog about our own bare wall projects and what we are doing with them over the summer.

Summer Challenge- IDEA!!

Okay. So, we don't want to leave any one hanging... wondering, "should I do this? Will it be too hard?"
Well, if you are torn about whether you should participate in our 2009 Summer "Bare Wall" challenge...Well, YOU SHOULD! You will feel so much better having accomplished something like this AND have your house looking the way you really want it to look. Our homes are supposed to be our escape. A place we can go and get away from the stress and cares of the world, to be with the ones we love most, right?
Well, I decided that for my 10th wedding anniversary I wanted to surprise my super duper Honey, Honey of a husband with a "new" room, so-to-speak. No extreme room makeover because I couldn't afford THAT, but I new I could make it better than it was. I wanted our bedroom to be relaxed environment that was nice but comfy, with a romantic touch. But, I absolutely had to make it work for BOTH of us (i.e. no flowery girly stuff...well, at least, a bare minimum of that. I mean, its still half my room, right?)
So, here is a picture of part of my room- messy, unmade bed and all (I'm really going out on a limb here for you, so PLEASE don't judge me by this picture!!)

Yep, pretty blue walls, that I did love. But, had A LOT of trouble trying to decorate with.

Tip#1, when choosing a paint color, its easier to match paint to a couch or a bed comforter, than to try to find a couch or bedding that matches the paint you absolutely HAD to have!! Yeah, it was really pretty, but never worked well in my room (but, this shade of blue was very relaxing, I must say).
I decided to "makeover" my room about a week before my anniversary (NOT good timing!) Seeing how I work really well under pressure, I did get it done, with the help of some great friends and family members who helped me out.
I knew I wanted to make my room sort of tropical, because of a great trip my hubby and I had been on to Hawaii recently. We had a great time, and keep talking about going back. So, I thought I'd bring a little of the tropics to us.
Just a note: I did not paint the walls for my "makeover". My hubby and I painted about 3 weeks AFTER I did my work, because as you will see, the blue DID NOT go (that was part of my plan, but I couldn't swing it in a week AND surprise him). So, here's what I did:
-Changed out my comforter cover for a solid beige colored one
-Bought some fabric from Joann's and some pillow forms (all on sale) and sewed some new pillows
-totally cleaned out my room- and I mean TOTALLY
-added some new accessories like tropical smelling candles (held on our eL Chunky Candle Holders)
-framed some of our pictures from our recent trip to Hawaii
-bought a few small tropical plants
-made an eLLeMeNOPea custom designed triptych for above my bed. This is the picture of my NEW wall above my bed. It wasn't exactly bare before, but needed some serious help. So, here's the finished product:

What do you think?? Not too hard. I fixed up my wall, simply by adding a triptych to it. No more bare (or almost bare) wall! Not too bad, AND my room is now my oasis. Its so nice. We feel like we step away to an island retreat when we go in there. You don't have to do the extra stuff I did. You might have bedding you love, you just don't know what to do on the wall above that. Hopefully this will get you thinking...

Teacher Appreciation...

The school year is winding up, and you have a few teachers in your families lives that have helped your child (or you!) learn and grow this year. So.... take the time to thank those special teachers-really show them that what they are doing really matters!

Spring is almost here and we are ready for the new change that spring brings. We are going to be introducing some new products and adding some more spring like products to our website. But for now, we have one new product that we'd like to showcase for you!

We promised to show you what we've been up to (We've been SHOPPING!!!). Well, here you go! In November, Valarie and I had the chance to visit one of our wholesale suppliers that we buy our wrought iron easels and wreath stands from. We were surprised to see their new showroom FULL, and I mean FULL of all sorts of fun home decorating accents! We went a little crazy! We really want to offer more of a variety of products to our customers, that aren't limited to things we add vinyl to (which we REALLY love to do), we just also enjoy variety (its the spice of life, you know :).
You will see in the next few months,(as we get caught up on things!) all the new products we have available, plus hopefully, the products we came out with in September that aren't yet online. So here is one of our new products, (that we bought from our wholesale supplier) featured as our January Monthly Special!
What is it, you ask? This is one (of four) of our Square Metal Wall Tiles (click here to see a picture of all four together). We love the Square Metal Wall Tiles! These tiles measure 12" square, and are made of thick, smooth metal. They are all designed with a black and white motif. They are antiqued around the edges to portray an aged look. Each tile features a different word, and an inspirational quote. The options are endless when you display them in your space. They are very versatile. Buy one to fill a small shelf, or create a dramatic effect and add all four to a wall. Here's an idea of what can be done with one:

Have you checked out our Happy Customers page on the website lately? I'm not sure how many of you know that we run monthly/bi-monthly drawings to encourage you to send in your customer feedback. We really want to hear from you!!

So, we've had 2 drawings. Our first one in September, we had 3 people entered in to the drawing, and Pauline won $25 gift certificate to our website. How great are those odds! Our next drawing was for November, we decided to change things up a little and ask for pictures of our products displayed in your homes. We only had 1 entry- and surprise, surprise, Becky won the drawing! I mean, is that not the easiest way to win $25 worth of eLLeMeNOPea stuff? Just to show off her stuff, this is the picture that Becky submitted to us. We did this custom vinyl mural for her daughter's room. How cute is that?? All the pictures that are submitted will also be featured on our website, in the Gallery, under the "Other" category (click here to view). (This category is specifically made to showcase custom orders from our customers, that can help you get ideas for things you want for your home.)

Anyways, here we are, in the middle of our current drawing, keeping with the picture idea, which runs from December1-January 31st, and so far, we have 2 entries. So, lets try and pick things up this month and let us know how we're doing! Send in your pictures, with or without comments, and you too can win! The odds are incredibly great, and its a pretty easy thing to do.

Believe it or not...

Can you believe it- we are back in the blogging world! Wow, has it really been two months since we last blogged? That should be a crime, I think! The good news is, we have been really busy. The bad news is, that has kept us from updating blogs, and adding new product to our website. We've got a lot of new stuff we REALLY want to show you , but haven't had the time. I'm not complaining- its really great to be that busy with our little business here!
This is my most favorite time of the year. Isn't it incredible? I love hearing Christmas songs, and smelling yummy cookies baking, and planning great surprises for loved ones. Its just the best time.
Anyway, just wanted to let you know, yes we are alive and doing well. I will really try harder to blog more. We've got a lot of updating to do on the website. But for now, we are going to celebrate Christmas with our families. So, we are no longer processing any orders that need to be done before the end of the year (if you've already placed your order, you are safe- we are finishing it up as we speak). So, if you've got an order that you'd like to place that doesn't need immediate attention, please order away! We are resuming our order processing after the new year.
We've had an incredible year this year and can't wait to see what 2009 holds for us and all of you! We wouldn't have our little business here if it weren't for you, so to you I say, THANKS A BUNCH!!! We really appreciate you.
It has come to our attention that we never officially announced our Customer Feedback drawing winner from November. The winner (and only one to submit before the deadline)... is... Becky W! Yeah! She submitted a fabulous picture of the vinyl mural we did in her daughter's bedroom. We will have that comment and picture posted soon.
To those of you who submitted since November 30, we will be running this next customer feedback contest until the end of January.

We've done a little shopping with our wholesale vendors and have some really incredible products we are going to be introducing in 2009....so stay tuned to our blog and website to see what's coming!

October Specials and Events

October Special:

We are running a special on our new Recipe boards this month. I love them! I'm always getting my recipes totally jacked up when I cook. I leave them on the counter and inevitably they get yucky with whatever ingredients I'm using. With the Recipe boards, I don't have to worry about messing up my recipes, and its versatile enough to fit my small 4 x 6 cards, or a full 8 x 11 sheet of paper. They are not only totally stylish, but they are a solution to my problem. I just love that! Its a win-win situation. So, we have them on sale for $16.95 (normally $21.95- an incredible deal!!). This board is featured in an Linen paint, with an antique carmel wash over it. They can be ordered in any paint or vinyl color (My board is black with white letters). Don't forget with the holidays approaching, these will also make really great Christmas gifts. Start thinking now...and while you're thinking about it, don't forget to order your easel too. Our wrought iron easels are classy, and very sturdy.

We've added a few new Fall Seasonal items you need to check out, with more to come, of course! I'm really trying hard to catch up on product entry here. Thanks for your patience as we continue to build our online store. Its been a great learning experience for us!

*We have our LAST party/open house of the year coming up this week, on Wednesday, here in Sacramento. Thanks to dear sweet Megan for hosting another party/open house for us. She had an eLLeMeNOPea Open House last year, about this same time, which was awesome. Megan has graciously offered to open up her house to my regular customers who didn't get a chance to attend our Open House. So, if you'd like to go to Megan's party this Wednesday the 15th, please email me privately, and I'll get you the info.

Welcome-Open House Update

Well, we did it! We had our big Anniversary Open House, AND it didn't rain. Just a little eLLeMeNOPea trivia here: We opened our business in the Fall of 2006. At our Grand Opening Open House, in November, it poured rain, over the two day period we had the party. The next year, 2007, two big Open Houses, April: RAIN, September: RAIN. So we decided to just have one Open House a year, in honor of our business anniversary. Here we are, 2008, and we did it- NO RAIN- YEAH!!!!(That might have something to do with the fact that we are in a drought-however, it did rain this last weekend, so if we had scheduled it just one week later...)

Happy day! The party was a HUGE success, thanks to all of our customers who attended. We had a great time visiting and showcasing our new products, such as our door vinyl, featured here ON MY FRONT DOOR! Don't you just love it? It comes in a set with 4 additional seasonal door greetings (you customize the colors of course!), we will have it on our website to order within the next week or so. As a special thanks to all of you who did attend our Open House, we will be emailing you with a special customer appreciation gift.

Since we only have these once a year, we try to make them big and grand. Its the one time a year you can come and see EVERYTHING that we sell. We can't take all of our product to every party that our customer's host for us, but here, at my house, we bring it all out. Some products we will never sell online, and some unique products we have made that will only showcase once. It was awesome day. If you missed it, SORRY...but you really missed out! Rest assured, not only will we have another Open House next year, but we will have our new products available to buy online within the next week or so. I'll show a few pictures on my next post of some of our new products.

Valarie and I have been working hard preparing for the Open House this Saturday! So hard, we haven't even had time to blog! But, with all of our creating, we've been so excited to see some of our new products turn out the way we planned. I have never been good at keeping secrets, or surprises, so.....here is a little sneak peak at ONE of our new products. We are so excited to show you that vinyl can not only be used to inspire you with words, but it can be used to creat so many different design elements in your home. Just wait until our Open House, you'll see what we mean...
